Hottest Jobs for 2014

As the economy continues to grow and evolve there are a number of employment trends and jobs that are expected to gain steam in 2014. Employers are putting an emphasis on candidates with experience in customer service, social media, great communication skills and a can-do attitude. According to Kathleen Pender at SFGate, Robert Half International, a staffing firm, the nine hottest jobs for 2014 are in accounting and finance, technology, legal, creative and marketing, and administrative. The hottest jobs for 2014 are:

  1. Financial analysts
  2. Senior accountants
  3. Mobile application developers
  4. Software developers
  5. Lawyers
  6. Executive assistants
  7. Customer service managers
  8. User-experience designers
  9. Front-end Web developers

There are a few other trends that will be on the move in 2014 including more competition for employers. More and more often employees are approaching their current employers with competing jobs and asking for a counteroffer. In an effort to stay competitive and retain and attract talent, employers will be forced to be more nimble.

If one of these hot jobs isn’t for you, don’t worry, SFGate and Robert Half International, predict starting salaries will go up 3.7 percent in 2014 across all industries.
