Over Half of U.S. Population Using Mobile

…ideas by Jeffery Giesener – SourceMob.com – CEO

With 139 million (53%) of Americans owning smartphones and tablets, mobile use has reached critical mass in the United States.

Research by Emarketer shows the amounts of time people spend on a mobile device is growing at 14 times the rate of desktop usage. Other research by Google indicates 87% of candidates are already searching for jobs on their mobile devices.

Another study by Arbitron indicates the percentage of the US population who owns a smartphone/tablet is soaring:

2009 – 10%; 2010 – 14%; 2011 – 31%; 2012 – 44%; 2013 – 54%*

Smartphone usage in 2013 will reach critical mass presenting unparalleled opportunities for Talent Acquisition Professionals.

What this means for HR/Talent Acquisition Teams, is that a mobile-first strategy is the new priority.

But in stark contrast to the scaling mobile usage, is the lack of mobile career innovation by companies looking to attract mobile candidates. In fact, according to ERE.net, almost 90% of the Fortune 500 does not have a mobile career site or the ability to provide candidates a positive mobile apply experience.

Filling out a job application on a mobile device is difficult.

Here’s the current Talent Acquisition problem.

1) Applicants are asked to complete multiple pages of personal data. Try to do this on a mobile device.

2) Worse yet, login is required even to review available positions.

3) The result of the above is massive candidate drop off (up to 60-90%) and mobile applications that your ATS can’t even directly accept.

SOURCEMOB HAS THE SOLUTION!

  • The launch of SourceMob’s Mobile DirectApply™
  • Positioned To Fill Gaps for Talent Acquisition Departments
  • New Mobile DirectApply Taps into the Power of Mobile, Web and Social Networks for Job Candidate Recruitment and Conversations

SourceMob’s revolutionary new Mobile DirectApply™ eliminates one of the biggest causes of candidate defection from the application process – poor candidate experience around the candidate mobile apply process.

According to Google, 87% of job seekers would use a mobile device to find jobs. Yet in 2012, nearly 90% of the Fortune 500 didn’t have a mobile optimized career site.

Today, most Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) still do not have a mobile optimized interface for job seekers or applicants. SourceMob’s Mobile DirectApply™ solves that problem and gives companies a mobile solution that can integrate with their existing ATS.

This enables SourceMob clients to provide candidates with state-of-art mobile branding and capture top mobile candidates through web, social and mobile networks.

SourceMob’s existing product suite includes Mobile, Social and Web Career Alerts, Talent Community, Candidate Relationship Management (CRM) and Conversation solutions that lower hiring costs, speed hiring time and create process efficiencies.

“We work in a highly competitive IT recruiting space and as such there is a lot of noise in the marketplace and we realized that in order to rise above the competition, we needed to allow our candidates to search jobs, apply and interact with us through mobile optimized tools as well as social channels.” says Harvey Clay, Recruiting Manager. “We evaluated numerous social and mobile media recruiting solutions and found that SourceMob can help us source better quality candidates. It’s a much needed social recruiting solution for companies who want to adopt and successfully utilize mobile technology and social media for talent acquisition.”

SourceMob is a highly effective and affordable solution for companies who wish to increase applicant flow, especially passive candidates, using social, web and mobile networks. The payback is almost immediate; you will reduce cost per hire and eliminate outside recruiting fees while increasing your recruiting ROI.
